Author Info : A halfway decent mouser (just halfway) Description : : This is Oce and I doing a zone game. Our ping was around : 150-160ms or so, quite reasonable for a Virginia : to Finland connection. I would say that indigo saw a : fair (but not great) connection, and Player 1 was : kinda crappy but playable. : : Ocelot is DoomGod. Watching the way he follows up the : hallway respawns; it's just so clean, and fast, and perfect, : it's almost unbelieveable. Being the one who is in-game as : the unfortunate fragbait respawning anywhere near the : North Hall is an exersize in how to go to hell. Repeatedly. : And inexorably. As you can see from watching, when he gets : to doing the respawns like that, what could I do to make : a difference? I usually tried to run for a weapon, but there : are problems in doing that. There's only one direction that : has a chance of letting you survive the respawn, and that's : away from wherever he is; but by the time you start to run : in what would have been the right direction, he has already : made it past you and is standing where you least wanted to : see him. Sometimes, as an alternative to being run down and : blown to kingdom come, I just fire my handgun in the face of : what could reasonably be expected to be an undodgeable, nearly : point blank SSG. : : There's a very long camping session at ocelot's frag 27. : This was me simply deciding that I absolutely would not go : down to the plasma room and get killed, again, and that I : was going to wait 'till the cows came home if I had to. : So, I pitched a tent in the rocket alcove and waited for a : long time. : : It was absolutely blind friggin' luck that I did : not die for it. He eventually came around that corner, deduced : where I was, and instantly slammed a point blank SSG just : inches from my head. It was a very quickly executed shot on his : part, not really possible for him to aim it precisely beforehand : and maintain its surprise, and I lucked out. : : Naturally, I happened to be typing something about the weather : when it happened, so in the demo I look like I was asleep on : the rocket launcher. I hit enter on what I was typing and : got off a rocket, managing to get it into the blue room : doorframe, and it was just close enough to get him with the spray. : He almost got clear in time, too. It was one of my ... 7 frags... : yeah.. 7. : : Do you want to see something sick? absolutely SICK? Watch for : ocelot's plasma grab at his frag 40. Looks easy doesen't it??? : Damn. : : Check out frags 47 - 48, and how he should have been dead : several times over. So you wanna get a respawn frag on HIM?? : Nooooo, can't do that. Get killed instead. YEAH. : : The end of this demo is built. When ocelot got his frag 50, I : accidently hit Q instead of my USE key to respawn. So, for : distribution purposes, we tacked on a nasty-looking dragging : to the exit to make the demo end semi-normally, at least : displaying the final scores. : : I've seen Oce's movement cleaner than this, btw.
